Cornel?Ban?is?a?Non-resident?Senior?Research?Fellow?with?the?Global?Economic?Governance?Initiative?and?associate?professor?of?International?Political?Economy?at?Copenhagen?Business?School.?Prior?to?this,?he?was?Reader?at?City?University?of?London,?assistant?professor?at?Boston?University?and?research?fellow?at?Brown?University?in?the?United?States.?He?focuses?on?the?fields?of?science?studies,?innovation?management,?industrial?policy,?macroeconomic?policy?shifts,?and?organisational?transformations.?He?has?profound?expertise?and?insights?into?these?areas?in?relation?to?Europe,?the?United?States,?and?international?financial?institutions.?His?most?recent?book?(Ruling?Ideas:?How?Neoliberalism?Goes?Local,?Oxford?University?Press,?2018)?received?the?political?economy?award?for?2017?of?the?British?International?Studies?Association.?He?co-edited?a?special?issue?on?the?Washington?Consensus?in?the?BRICS?(in?Review?of?International?Political?Economy)?and?is?co-editing?a?special?issue?on?the?crisis?politics?and?economics?of?the?International?Monetary?Fund?(for?Governance).?

The?theme?of?green?economy?in?Europe,?China,?and?the?United?States?can?be?understood?through?a?comparative?lens?that?highlights?their?distinct?strategies?for?achieving?net-zero?emissions.?This?analysis?will?delve?into?the?role?of?key?instruments?such?as?the?European?Investment?Bank?(EIB),?the?European?Green?Deal,?and?the?Biden?administration’s?Inflation?Reduction?Act?(IRA)?to?provide?a?comprehensive?understanding?of?how?different?political?economies?approach?the?same?goal.?By?examining?the?financial,?political,?and?organizational?mechanisms?employed?in?each?region,?the?lecture?aims?to?shed?light?on?how?these?tools?can?be?more?effectively?harnessed?to?advance?decarbonisation?within?the?broader?landscape?of?the?global?economy.
